Students voluntarily join the UP Band and Strings ASA program.
The Strings & Band programs aim for personal enrichment and technical skill development through the study of instrumental music in performance based ensembles.
The UP Band and Strings students succeed collaboratively in ensemble settings,
thus all students are expected to display collegial and appropriate behaviours
that support learning for themselves and others.
Should a student fail to abide by the After-school Conduct Expectations and behave in a manner that is disruptive, then a behavior reconciliation will be conducted. The reconciliation stage will be dependent on the nature and re-occurrence of the student’s behavior:
Stage 1: • Verbal reminder to the student of the expected appropriate behaviors. • Anecdotal note by provider.
Stage 2: • Verbal reminder to the student of the expected appropriate behaviors. • Home Contact made by provider • Consequence applied by provider. • Student complies/makes amends. • Anecdotal note by provider • Activities Office notifie.
Stage 3: • Written reminder to the student and parent of the expected appropriate behaviors. • Home Contact made by the After School Office • Activities Office records ACE infringement.
Stage 4: • Suspension of ASA program for 1 or more sessions. • Refunds or make-up classes are not available if suspended.
