London Clothes Swap

Tuesday, 5th April 2022

2.30PM - 5.00PM (BST)

University of Westminster,

Marylebone Campus - Cayley Theatre

By offering an opportunity to engage with sustainable fashion, our event aims to influence students' and attendees' buying habits and encourage slow fashion. We hope to build a sustainable network for like-minded individuals looking to swap their clothes and their mindsets.

Let's say NO TO FAST FASHION.

Bring your gently used, clean clothes and swap for fantastic new-to-you finds!

Attendees can choose to donate clothes in advance at the Marylebone campus, or bring them on the day of the event. Tickets are free to attend but there will be a token system in place for the amount of clothes you swap. 5 items maximum per swap! Tokens will be awarded on arrival at the event: Items worth over £50 will be worth two tokens, all other items are worth one token. We reserve the right to reject damaged items.

Our Sponsors:

All garments and prints are made from completely recycled/upcycled fabrics and materials. Bodawear has appeared in London Fashion Week and teenage Cancer trust charity catwalk.

We have partnered with Verte, a clothes swapping company, to help spread the word about sustainable fashion. They are donating left-over clothing from a previous event to include in our swap.

Much appreciation to our host and sponsor, University of Westminster, for making the clothes swap and sustainability festival possible!

Information on other Clothes Swaps:

Why “Festival Fashion” can be one of the worst fast fashion offenders of them all:

  • Festival outfits are often clothes people buy for one weekend or to fit a specific theme… or even worse ‘just for the ‘gram’.

  • As festival clothing becomes a more mainstream independent designers’ ideas are more and more frequently being ripped off and made badly in cheap materials by wholesalers.

  • The materials that we favour for our festival wear, like lycra, sequins, glitter and feathers aren’t planet friendly, they contain lots of plastic which get into our water streams.

There are some simple steps that we can all take to lessen our festival wardrobe’s environmental and human impact – and indeed the impact of everything we choose to clothe ourselves with!
