Introduction to states of matter unit (liquid, solid, gas)
Physical changes of matter - how matter changes from one state to another.
Two activities related to changes in states of matter. Specifically the process of a solid turning into a liquid (melting).
Comparing physical and chemical changes of matter. Includes a short activity that has students thinking about what processes involve chemical or physical changes.
Chemical changes activity (can be a it messy as it involves mixing vinegar and baking soda. To reduce cleanup, do this activity outside.
Materials and the Environment Mini-Unit

Introduction to materials and their impacts on the environment. This lesson is the first in a two-part cross-curricular activity.
Part 1
Part 2:
Students will use the information they researched on a given object, and come up with a short script for a documentary about the object and the material it is made of. This is the second part in a two-part cross curricular activity. If you want to incorporate a media literacy component, you can also have students create a short slideshow/video and do a voice over with the script they created.
