C4E Undergraduate Fellowships in Ethics

We invite applications for the C4E Undergraduate Fellows Program at the Centre for Ethics, University of Toronto, during the 2026-27 academic year.
We are looking for outstanding fourth-year undergraduate students at the University of Toronto with research interests that align with the C4E’s mission as an interdisciplinary centre aimed at advancing research and teaching in the field of ethics, broadly defined. C4E events have drawn speakers and participants from a wide range of disciplines.
C4E Undergraduate Fellows will receive a stipend of $1,000 for the academic year and will be provided with carrel space for study at the Centre for Ethics. Fellows will be expected, throughout the term of their fellowship, to regularly attend Centre events and to contribute to Centre projects and activities. In addition, C4E Undergraduate Fellows in Ethics are required to enroll in ETH401H1Y (Seminar in Ethics), Regular Stream a year-long half-credit course. This course meets bi-weekly, on Wednesdays at 11am – 2pm. TThe Race, Ethics, and Power (REP) project will continue in 2026-27 with Prof. William Paris as Project Director. Applicants who want to work specifically on that theme should indicate their interest in the cover letter, and should also check if they might also want to apply to the Algorithm Bias Project Internships
To be eligible, students must be enrolled in a program in the University of Toronto and be entering fourth year, and have a cumulative GPA of at least 3.5. Undergraduate fellows are expected to have a strong background in ethics, broadly conceived.

A one-page document describing your interest in the Centre for Ethics;
Your most recent transcript for all undergraduate work at the University of Toronto; and
A paper you have written related to ethics, broadly defined (no more than 2500 words). If you do not have a paper in the area, please send a paper that is representative of your more general interests.
