As humans, we have an innate desire to connect with others, starting with our immediate family and branching out into various social circles. We encounter many people every day and meet new individuals in different settings, providing us with diverse experiences and opportunities to learn at every stage of our lives. Some of these social connections happen during our time at the university, which can significantly impact our lives. Whether it's being inspired by a friend, a colleague, an event, a club, or a group of friends, gaining a new skill or experiencing an act of kindness, an impact from an act of recognition, these experiences can become a force for change which I refer to as UoB Points of Light (UoB PoL) and I believe a lot of have experienced this through the University of Bristol.
The University of Bristol has produced millions of alumni, each with a unique story. Some have started their businesses, others have become business partners or CEOs, and many other personalities have emerged from the University Alumni community. UoB Points of Light (UoB PoL) wants people to hear and share their stories to drive real and sustained change in many different ways. We all have distinct pathways to civic impact, and together, we can learn from our unique backgrounds, experiences, and perspectives to enact social change on a global scale. From the Alumni community and organizers to corporate citizens, each point of light will amplify the potential in us all and unite us to form a powerful spotlight as change makers.
