The UO student chapter of AWM has purchased a selection of books on various topics pertaining to women in professional, and often STEM-related, careers. The goal is for these books to be a resource for graduate students, especially to help women and members of underrepresented groups thrive at UO and beyond.
The books are available for graduate students to sign out in the reading room on the 2M floor of the Fenton math library. All books must be returned in Week 10 of each quarter.
Additionally, the AWM will host teas each quarter to discuss specific topics from the reading selection. See the calendar for details about upcoming teas. Additional information, past readings and resources can be found below.

We'll be taking the diagnostic quiz in “Nice Girls Don’t Get the Corner Office” and then discussing our results.

We'll be playing a game called "Half-Life," where you put together a 90 second academic/professional elevator pitch and will get the opportunity to practice with another AWM member. After, people can present a 45 second, 22-second, 11-second, etc. version of the pitch to everyone! Come prepared to think on your feet, to observe and learn from your peers, or to do both!
Fall '24 Reading Room Tea

We’ll discuss sections 13 (Cold, Austere, or Queer), 15 (When You Are Told You Can’t: Do Just the Opposite) and 19 (Black, Female, ...Bigger) from Living Proof: Stories of Resilience Along the Mathematical Journey. You are encouraged but certainly not required to read the articles before we meet. (It is perfectly acceptable to read zero, one, two, or all three of the suggested articles.) There will be fancy teas and snacks for all who attend. Please bring your own mug if possible.
