A Great Dane named Juliana received the Blue Cross Medal in World War II. She peed on a bomb that was set on fire to put it out.

Ketchup as Medicine 

In the 1830s Ketchup was sold as medicine by Dr. John Cook Bennett, claiming it cured ailments like indigestion and jaundice. But by 1850 the claims were proven to be false and the Ketchup medicine empire collapsed.

In Ancient Rome, there were female gladiators called gladiatrix. The warriors were extremely rare compared to their male counterparts. 

Bunnies were Napolean's Enimies Too 

A horde of bunnies attacked Napoleon Bonaparte. The emperor had requested that a bunny hunt be arranged. His chief of staff rounded up a few thousand bunnies but when they were released nothing went to plan. The horde of bunnies turned and attacked Napoleon. 

The Truth Behind Salem Witch Trials

History has always said that the women accused of being witches during the infamous Salem witch trials were burned at the stake. This is wrong, in fact, they were either jailed or hanged. None of the women accused in Salem were burned.

Shortest War in History

There was a record set for the shortest war in history and lasted a whole 38 minutes. The war was between Britain and Zanzibar, also known as the Anglo-Zanzibar War. It happened on  August 27, 1896, and was started over the ascension of the next Sultan. The British won.
