The main objective of the project was to re-construct the design of the HVAC in the Drever building, Downtown Dallas, Texas pictured on the right and implement the Variable Refrigerant Flow (VRF) design over variable refrigerant volume (VRV) that was in place.
The project also aims at developing a highly reliable and efficient model of the VRF system.
The team members were motivated by the fact that the efficient energy system to be developed would reduce energy resource required and will result in increased environmental quality, national security, personal financial security and higher savings.
The information was obtained about the previous design of the project which gave insight to the power usage, reliability and maintenance required is for VRV that was in place. The software used for the design of the new VRF HVAC system to be installed is the AutoCAD. The use of this software involved design, calculations, the efficiency and the type of the components to be used in the project. The measurements of the floor on the rooftop for placing of the water pump to pump the water from the tower were taken. The design of the piping system and the lines from the 21st to the 24th floor was also done.
