This is my last weekend in the Philippines as I will be returning to Indonesia on Tuesday. Because I saw that Monday and Tuesday are busy days, I have to practice for the teaching demo final, so I decided today to go looking for souvenirs.
Shopping at SM San Lazaro
This is the first place that I picked to go, SM San Lazaro. The mall is near form my dorm, it’s only 1,4 km. I decided to go there on foot while enjoying the street in Manila. There, I bought some Philippines snack, and most of the snack I bought was chocolate. I spent around 2.500 there. After shopping for more than 2 hours, I decided to use a tricycle, the local transportation, to go back to the dorm because I brought a lot of groceries. Using the tricycle was interesting and a little bit scary.
Shopping souvenirs at Quiapo
At 15.30 p.m. I continued my plan to go to places that sell souvenirs such as key chains and others. The place is located at Quiapo, about 1.5km from my dorm. I used the tricycle again to go there. When I got there, I was surprised because the location was in a traditional market area. I was happy about that because I got to experience the atmosphere of a traditional market in the Philippines. In the store, I bought some keychains.
Visited the Muslim Village at Quiapo
Not far from the shop where I bought my souvenirs, there is a Muslim village in Manila. In the village, there is the biggest mosque in Manila and many restaurants serving halal food. Some of the restaurant serves Asian food, I ate fried rice there because I missed Indonesian food. I am very grateful to be able to visit that place because I learned many lessons, especially about gratitude.
