Today marked the beginning of my international journey to the Philippines, a day that was both exciting and nerve-wracking. My flight was scheduled to depart from Yogyakarta International Airport, so in the early hours of the morning, I bid farewell to my inn and made my way to Yogyakarta station, where I caught a train heading to the airport. The train pulled away at 04:50 WIB, and within 40 minutes, I found myself at the airport. With plenty of time before my flight, I decided to explore the airport and grabbed breakfast at KFC.

I Couldn't Wait to Fly
After completing the check-in process, going through screening, and passing immigration, I finally boarded the plane at 10:20 a.m. I had chosen Scoot Airlines, a low-cost carrier under the Singapore Airlines Group, for my journey. However, my excitement was soon replaced by confusion and panic during the transit in Singapore.

Unexpected Events
As I glanced at my boarding pass en route to Singapore, and I noticed a stark discrepancy in the flight schedule. According to my ticket, the connecting flight to Manila was supposed to depart at 14:50 Singapore time, but my boarding pass indicated a departure time of 01:50 the next day. This unexpected change left me bewildered and anxious, especially since it was my first time traveling abroad. I sought clarification from the flight attendant, but the information provided was limited. Regret washed over me as I realized I hadn't noticed the change earlier.

I Arrived in Singapore
Upon landing at Changi International Airport at 1:50 p.m. Singapore time, my friend and I immediately sought out the information section to address our predicament. Navigating the expansive airport, back and forth in search of answers, left me feeling utterly drained. Eventually, we learned that we would have to wait in Singapore for 12 long hours for the next available flight.
The unanticipated 12-hour layover caught me off guard, and I found myself unprepared for the extended stay. I hadn't acquired enough Singapore dollars, limiting my ability to purchase food. With just 10 dollars in hand, I relied on fast food and water from the nearby Seven-Eleven to sustain myself. Additionally, the unforeseen situation meant I couldn't explore Singapore beyond Terminal 1 and missed the chance to visit Jewel, the renowned entertainment complex located within the airport.
Despite the challenges, I persevered, anxiously awaiting my next flight at midnight. This unexpected turn of events served as a valuable lesson, reminding me of the importance of thorough preparation and adaptability when embarking on international travel.
