Before we begin, it's important to understand what affects the stride and how.
Horse Breed: Animation speed does not change between breeds, but, The Irish Draught's stride covers slightly more ground than the Dutch Warmblood's because their model is a bit larger:
Irish Draught Scale: 1.015
Dutch Warmblood Scale: 0.97
Strength: Strength increases a horse's animation speed, so a horse with more strength will travel faster.
Temperament: Forward horses (20 ↔ 50 Temperament) get a speed bonus, and, like with Strength, it comes from an increased animation speed.
Travel Speed: The stride will compress or expand in animation speed and distance covered based upon your gait (eg. working canter, long canter, gallop, etc).
The stride can be broken into two parts, which I will be referring to as the Jump Window and Downtime going forward.
As of v0.1.0.6, the jump window now encompasses (on average) 58% of the total stride, with downtime being the other 42%.
The jump window always occupies around the same percentage of the total stride no matter how quickly the animation cycles.
Quite a bit as it turns out! The below comparison is showing the duration (in milliseconds) of the stride using two horses at three speeds:
Slowest Horse: 0 Strength and -50 Temperament
Fastest Horse: 100 Strength and 50 Temperament
