Prompt: In what way(s) did you personally grow this year? How did you demonstrate or rebuild the resilience needed to move forward? How will you utilize resources and your support network to hold yourself accountable in continuing this growth?

This year, I personally grew in many aspects: academically, socially, and physically. Academically, I grew by getting through some of the most difficult courses I will have to take as a premedical college students, those classes being organic chemistry, physics, and biomedical statistics. I think I was successful in these courses because I was able to balance my time well with extracurriculars, and make sure to prioritize the right things to give the best chance at success. This means that studying less and making more time for self care activities allows me to be more physically prepared for my studies, while giving my body the right nutrition and exercise it needs in order to function. Socially, I believe I grew by finding my true friend group and establish strong ties with them for the upcoming year. I found that I was successful because by attending more social gatherings, I was able to find the right fit of people for me. Something else that relates socially which I think I improved on is not being such a people pleaser. Although there are times when people pleasing may be beneficial, sometimes it could result in a person being taken advantage of. I think creating the necessary boundaries between people is important for maintaining long lasting healthy relationships. Lastly, I physically grew. Although I did not obtain my goal of reaching 200 lbs body weight, I think I found the right motivation after coming back to the US from Thailand for the summer. I think I grew the most in creating a habit for myself, so I will be able to fit my exercise routine right in after coming back.

To rebuild my resilience, I initially acknowledged the situation and allowed myself to feel the disappointment and frustration. However, I didn't let those emotions define me or hinder my progress. Instead, I focused on implementing a series of strategies to demonstrate resilience and get back on track. First and foremost, I sought support from my professors and academic advisors. I scheduled meetings to discuss my concerns, seek guidance, and explore potential solutions. Their expertise and encouragement helped me gain perspective and develop a plan to address my academic challenges effectively. I also made a conscious effort to engage with my classmates and form study groups. Collaborating with peers who shared similar academic goals not only provided a supportive environment but also allowed us to share resources, exchange knowledge, and motivate each other during challenging times. Additionally, I recognized the importance of self-care in rebuilding resilience. I established a routine that prioritized adequate sleep, regular exercise, and healthy eating habits. Engaging in activities I enjoyed outside of academics, such as hobbies and socializing with friends, helped me maintain a balanced lifestyle and reduce stress. To address the specific academic difficulties I faced, I adopted a proactive approach. I sought out additional resources such as tutoring services, online learning platforms, and academic workshops. I made a commitment to attend lectures and actively participate in class discussions. I also revised my study methods and time management techniques to ensure maximum efficiency. Throughout this process, I practiced self-reflection and learned from my setbacks. I analyzed my past mistakes objectively, identified areas where I could improve, and adjusted my strategies accordingly. This allowed me to grow not only academically but also personally, as I became more resilient and adaptable in the face of future challenges. Lastly, I maintained a positive mindset and a long-term perspective. I reminded myself that setbacks are temporary and that my current situation did not define my future. I set realistic goals for each semester and celebrated small victories along the way, which boosted my confidence and reinforced my resilience.

In order to hold myself accountable and continue my personal and academic growth, I will utilize various resources and my support network effectively. By doing so, I will remain motivated, track my progress, and overcome obstacles. Here's a summary of how I plan to achieve this: To begin, I will take advantage of the academic resources available at my college. This includes the library, research databases, and online learning platforms. By utilizing these resources, I can deepen my understanding of subjects, access additional learning materials, and enhance my academic performance. Next, I will employ time management tools such as calendars, task managers, and productivity apps. These tools will help me schedule study sessions, set deadlines for assignments, and break down larger goals into manageable tasks. By holding myself accountable to these schedules and deadlines, I can ensure timely completion of tasks and stay organized in my academic and personal pursuits. I will actively participate in study groups and connect with peers who share similar goals. Engaging in discussions, exchanging ideas, and reviewing course materials together will create a sense of accountability within the group. We will hold each other responsible for completing assignments and preparing for exams, fostering continuous growth and support for one another. Seeking guidance from mentors and advisors who have expertise in my field of interest will also be crucial. Regular meetings with them will help me set realistic goals, receive feedback on my progress, and seek advice on overcoming challenges. Their insights and support will serve as valuable sources of accountability, pushing me to continue growing and achieving my aspirations. Within my personal support network, consisting of family, close friends, and loved ones, I will share my goals and progress. This will create a sense of responsibility to stay committed to my growth. Their belief in me and their motivation will serve as reminders to remain accountable to myself and persevere during challenging times. Regular self-reflection and journaling will allow me to track my personal and academic growth. This practice will help me assess my strengths, weaknesses, and areas for improvement. By setting aside dedicated time to reflect on my progress, I can hold myself accountable for taking proactive steps towards my goals and making necessary adjustments. Lastly, actively participating in online communities, forums, or social media groups related to my field of study will keep me informed and continuously learning. Engaging in discussions, sharing insights, and seeking advice from peers and professionals will further contribute to my growth and accountability. By effectively utilizing these resources and leveraging my support network, I can hold myself accountable in continuing my growth. The combination of external support, self-reflection, and utilizing available tools will ensure that I remain focused, motivated, and committed to my personal and academic development.
