My name is Perry Li. I am a rising 4th year medical sciences major at the University of Cincinnati and I will be graduating in May of 2025. I am majoring in medical sciences, economics and liberal arts. I decided to pursue an education at the University of Cincinnati because the Medical Sciences program allows me to gain a tailored college experience to learning about working in a clinical setting. The UC College Medicine also has strong ties to Cincinnati Childrens, which is an exellent resource for clinical and research experience for undergraduates. I am a Cincinnatus Distinction Scholar, Darwin T. Turner Scholar, and in the University Honors Program.
My family is from Tianjin and Xining China, while I was born Des Plaines IL. My parents bought a house in Algonquin, Illinois, where I attended Lincoln Prairie Elementary School, Westfield Community School, and Harry D. Jacobs High School. Through my childhood, I was very passionate about music and specifically, making classical music on the violin. I joined the Elgin Youth Symphony Orchestra (EYSO) in 2011 as a violinist in the Primo division, where I performed and auditioned to the highest division, Youth Symphony in 2017. I served as Youth Symphony's concertmaster in senior year of high school and last year in the EYSO (2020-2021)
My current interests are in healthcare administration, specifically how we can make healthcare more accessible for disadvantaged populations. Through my internships through nonprofits in Mae Sot, Thailand and hospitals in Shanghai, China, I will be able to understand how healthcare administration works in other parts of the world and grow both my cultural and global understanding of practices the United States can utilize and implement.Â
