Google’s Hangout Video Calls bring easy video conferencing and screen sharing to your desktop. However, it’s important to avoid inadvertently sharing private data with your audience. Remember, they can see what you see. If you have multiple monitors, you can place your sensitive data on one monitor while screen sharing the other.
Whether you have multiple monitors or a single monitor, here are some tips:
Most importantly, know your software. Whether using Google Hangouts/Live Streaming or another program, be sure you understand the screen sharing functionality.
The best part about a live broadcast is the interactivity you can have with your viewers. There are lots of great tools you can use to collect feedback/questions (email, Twitter, Google Forms, Google Docs, etc) but one of the easiest is the Audience Tools built into Google Slides — especially if you're doing screen sharing with your slides. The best part, your audience gets to vote on the questions so you can see what's truly important to them.
Keep in mind there may be up to a one minute delay between your broadcast and the viewer.
Only available while broadcasting, viewers can participate in a live chat with other viewers. Here viewers can ask questions and make comments that anyone can answer.
Tip: Paste a link to the Q&A into the chat before your start the broadcast so you only have one place to look for questions.
