Hello! My name is Rhythm Osan and I am a Girl Scout ambassador pursuing my Gold award. My project aims to educate people of all age groups on the importance of culture, traditions and preserving ideas passed down from generations.
In English Literature and Language classes in high school, we read an abundance of books that made allusions and references to the bible and aspects of Christianity. Although it may have been interesting to see the connections to people who read the bible and understood the references, it was quite difficult for me personally to instantly grasp a concept due to my Indian upbringing. I usually had to do research to understand what Noah's Arc was or what locusts had to do with punishment. Other times, my Muslim friends would talk about Eid or I would talk about Diwali and not many people understood what we were talking about. I then realized that an incredible divide existed among us students due to our cultural and religious backgrounds, and decided to educate my peers on the differences and why being aware of other's cultural backgrounds is important.
