If you would like to request religious accommodation below are the steps. This process is found in AR 600-20.
Talk to the Chaplain. You may not need official accommodation, it might just be a conversation.
The soldier makes a written request to their immediate commander, stating the nature and basis of their religious accommodation request.
The immediate commander notifies HQDA, G-1, and assigns a chaplain to interview the soldier and assess the legitimacy and sincerity of their request.
The company and battalion commanders, in consultation with the S-1 and the chaplain, make a written recommendation of approval or disapproval of the request.
The request is elevated to the brigade commander, who also makes a written recommendation of approval or disapproval, and obtains a legal review of the request.
The request is elevated to the General Court Martial Convening Authority (GCMCA) or HQDA, G-1 as appropriate, who can approve or disapprove requests.
The approving authority notifies the soldier and the command of the final decision, and files the request in the soldier’s OMPF.
