Located at the top of this website you will find tabs containing all information regarding NHS at Union HS.

Under the Membership tab, you will find information such as where to find and how to sign the Code of Conduct, Probation and Disciplinary measures, how to pay dues, and directions on how to log hours in Mobile Serve.

Under the Grade Specific Info, you can locate your current grade and read about the requirements for each grade, such as how many hours are needed, or events/regalia related to the grade.

Under the Contacts and Officers tab, you will find all means of communication used by NHS, such as the GroupMe link, Instagram, NHS email, and officers as well as sponsors.

Under the (More) Need Volunteers? tab, for OUTSIDE ORGANIZATIONS/NON-STUDENTS there is a google form linked for organizations, non-profits, churches, schools, etc. to request volunteers for events or just in general. You can also find directions on how to approve hours in MobileServe.

what is the national honor society?

The National Honor Society (NHS) is an organization for high schoolers that promotes leadership, service, character, and scholarship.

The purpose of the National Honor Society is to elevate students’ and schools’ academics, leadership, and community engagement. NHS benefits students, communities, and colleges. Students are required to maintain a grade point average of 3.50 weighted or above throughout their high school years as well as perform 30 service hours, create service projects, as well as have a clean discipline record to maintain membership.

The National Honor Society started in 1921 by an association of principals. It was the first honor society created across the country. At almost 100 years old, the NHS is one of the most well-known educational and leadership groups.

HOW DOES NHS BENEFIT ME?

In many cases, NHS membership looks good on college applications. It lets colleges know that the student performs admirably when it comes to academics and service. Plus, it gives them insights into a student’s leadership capabilities and general character, which can make them look like a stronger applicant. Any service projects done through the National Honor Society can further elevate a student’s application, as well as help them boost their resume.
