My Dreams Can Come True
My Dreams Can Come True
Required materials: bandages
Check in: Does anyone have any hurts today?
Teacher response: If someone shares a hurt, ask them if you can put the bandage on for them (this is important for students who may not have received basic caregiving). It is okay if they decline and want to do it themselves.
Note: Students may have "outside hurts" (something you can see) or "inside hurts" (feelings). Both are valid. In the beginning, many students will want a band aid. That is okay! Try not to deny someone the opportunity for connection.
Required materials: various Chap Sticks (ideally scented ones)
Check in: Does anyone need some Happy Chappy today?
Teacher response: When a student raises their hand, rub some of the Chap Stick on the back of their hand.
Required materials: lotion
Check in: Is anyone feeling cranky today and need some cranky cream?
Teacher response: If a student raises their hand, give them a small squirt of lotion on their hands.
Required materials: lotion
Check in: Is anyone feeling like they need a little extra comfort today?
Teacher response: If a student raises their hand, give them a small squirt of lotion on their hands (ideally a different scent than the cranky cream).
Check-In: Today we are doing a weather check in. I am going to name a few different kinds of weather. Raise your hand if you are feeling like that weather (Ex: sunny, rainy, cloud, etc.)
