Concert Band
The UC Concert Band takes place all year. Concert Band performs for the Winter Concert, Spring Concert, and graduation. During this time, students will learn the history of repertoire from different cultures and time periods as a means to enrich their musical experience and develop skills that will improve their overall musicianship. It is important to note that Concert Band does have schedule dress rehearsals before an upcoming performance.
Marching Band
The UC Band of Braves is a competitive performing arts activity that takes place from July - October. This activity is a great way for our students to develop their own independent skills towards their instrument, but also giving them the chance to grow in fellowship and support for one another throughout the season. Marching Band is a chance for our students to travel, compete, and experience other wonderful marching band shows from across the state. Members of the Marching Band are required to perform at contest days, parades, and football games. Please support the Band of Braves!!!
Jazz Band
The UC Jazz Band takes place in the November and performs during the Winter and Spring Concert. In this ensemble, students learn about the history and style of Jazz music as they perform Jazz tunes from well known composers and artists of the 20th century. This ensemble is open to any student from 8th grade through 12th and takes place after school. 6th and 7th graders must be invited by the director to perform in the Jazz Band. Instruments in this ensemble include (but are not limited to) clarinet, alto saxophone, tenor saxophone, baritone saxophone, trumpet, trombone, tuba, guitar, bass guitar, piano, drumset, and vibraphone. Students are not required to be members of the band program to perform in the Jazz Band.
Percussion Ensemble
The UC Percussion Ensemble begins in November and performs at the Spring Concert. The UC Percussion Ensemble exists as a means to further educate percussionists on the plethora of percussion instruments, how to play them, and on the history of percussion. This ensemble focuses on percussive literature from any time period in history. Students are rehearsed during the band class and during after school scheduled rehearsals.
Color Guard/Winter Guard
Color Guard is the non-musical section of the Marching Band. They provide support in the visual aspect of the performance by performing choreography or using other forms of equipment such as flags, sabers, and rifles. After marching season, our other performing arts group (Winter Guard) starts up. Depending on the year, this program may be competitive. WG members rehearse after school and will perform at basketball games.
Pep Band
The UC Pep Band is an extension of the High School Concert Band that performs at basketball games, school rallies, and community events throughout the Winter and Spring. 8th grade band students are invited to participate in the Pep Band whereas 7th grade students must be invited. Instruments in the Pep Band include all concert band instruments, battery percussion, and drumset. We are always looking for students who may not be members of the band program that can play guitar and bass guitar. The Pep Band hosts several "Braves Alumni Nights" where we invite alumni of the Union County instrumental program to perform with the current UC Pep Band members at basketball games.
6th Grade Band

Students will perform during the Winter and Spring Concert. Students may choose to study flute, clarinet, saxophone, trumpet, trombone, tuba, or percussion.
