Hello all,

Thank you for your continued support as we work to reopen the Union City Historical Museum Building.

As a result of our last meeting (11/21/2024), we plan to move forward with two starter history projects:

1. Oral history of Yolanda Triana

2. Window display at Union City Library (will be in place all of May 2025)

- We have now enjoyed three in-person meetups (9/12/24, 9/30/24 and 11/21/24).

- We've also had several meetings, both formal and informal with Union City staff.

- At the 10/8/24 city council meeting we notified the council that our joint proposal with the UC Chamber of Commerce had been submitted to city staff.

- At the 11/26/24 city council meeting city staff presented on the current and future state of the UC Historical Museum building. City council did not put forward a vote, but they did put forward a unanimous recommendation that city staff move forward with the UC Chamber and the Washington Township Museum of Local History to properly sort and store the contents, repair the building, and reopen as a vibrant community space. This is GOOD news!

- We had a spot in the Spring 2025 and the Fall 2025 UC Recreation Guides. 

- Tim Swenson led our annual Alvarado History Walk on 10/19/24. Fifteen people came out to learn about local history.

- The Alvarado History Walk repeated with Tim Swenson on May 17, 2025.

- We (WTMLH and the UC Chamber) have submitted both a complete joint proposal and a complete memorandum of understanding to city staff for the lease and use of the firehouse as a museum and a chamber headquarters.

Thanks to all of these activities we've acquired some new members of our "Union City History" group. This has been great!
