As we wait for our barge to leave the mooring, look back to the east. To the left is "Change House", Ratho Bridge in the centre and above the bridge to the right is the "Bridge Inn".
The Trust started its first cruises here in 1979. Ronnie Rusack, who then had the Inn, had started restaurant barge cruising in 1974 on the barge “Pride of the Union” and helped the newly formed Trust with barge servicing facilities. Ronnie's restaurant barges and his campaigning helped keep this section of the Union canal open. Ronnie is a life member and past Chairman of Seagull Trust Cruises and continues to support volunteer work to help maintain the canal.
Many of our passengers remember having meals or even weddings on the restaurant barges in the past but alas they no longer operate.
