The project involves an inter-disciplinary collaboration between a geographer (PI), political scientist (Co-I), sociologist (Co-I) and a partnership with the Commission for Decentralisation and Political Participation of the Legislature of Buenos Aires City.
The project is led by Dr Sam Halvorsen (PI), Dr Rocio Annunziata (Co-I) and Dr Sebastián Mauro (Co-I), together with two postdoctoral researchers (Dr Raffael Barzuli and Dr Gonzalo Federico Zubia) and two research assistants (Leonela Infante and Eliana Persky)
Dr Sam Halvorsen is Senior Lecturer in Human Geography and Queen Mary University of London. His research examines the relationship between territory and grassroots urban politics, with an emphasis on social movements, political parties and strategies of mobilising democracy in and through the city. He is founder and chair of the Latin American Geographies working group of the Royal Geographical Society. He is currently completing a monograph on territory and popular democracy in Buenos Aires and is editing a textbook on Latin American geographies.
