Uneven urban democracy is a British Academy funded research project (2022-23) that proposes a fresh approach to understanding political participation in Latin American cities by focusing on its relationship with territorial inequality. We are currently conducting initial fieldwork in the Autonomous City of Buenos Aires in which we are developing our methodology and collecting an initial round of data. We focus in particular on two contrasting neighborhoods, the wealth Comuna 2 and the relatively impoverished Comuna 8, in each case examine key local conflicts and exploring the following questons:
