Guido Tana is Postdoctoral Researcher at IUSS Pavia since March 2024. Previously he was FCT Postdoctoral Fellow at the IFILNOVA Department of the Universidade Nova de Lisboa in Portugal. He has also been a DAAD Gastwissenschftler at the University of Leipzig (2018) and at the Freie Universität Berlin (2014). He obtained his Ph.D at the University of Edinburgh (2021), under the supervision of Duncan Pritchard and Modesto Gomez Alonso.
His work focuses on classical and social epistemology, with a focus on skepticism, theories of justification, evidence, social normativity, disagreement, and epistemic injustice. He has also worked in the history of Philosophy - with a specialization in German Idealism, the later Wittgenstein, Descartes, Pyrrhonism, and the Pittsburgh School, and in the philosophy of Science, focusing on post-Popperian figures such as Feyerabend, Mary Hesse, and Bas van Fraassen.
His current research focuses on the social constraints of positive epistemic statuses, with particular attention on Dogmatism, Epistemic Recognition, and the relationship between the epistemic and dialectical character of philosophical arguments.
