Honors students visit DC Virgo's classroom 'virtually' in the Fall of 2020 and Fall of 2021 during the COVID Pandemic to help expand the scientific knowledge of the new generations and help students learn about careers in science.
We are happy to share that in person workshops were possible also in the Fall of 2021 and Spring 2022, where UNCW students interfaced with DC Virgo (~20-30 students) and MiCasa students (10-20) during 5 workshops. We appreciate all the work from our Meeting at the Table (MATT) team and Dr. Courtney Alexander, our collaborator from UNC Pembroke who shared history on medicinal products used by the Lumbee tribe.
Live Virtual Workshop delivered to ~25-30 middle and high school students. Topics covered include - natural products and antibiotics (check our DISCO students bacterial Agar Art!); - the pH rainbow; -uncover hidden messages through ink chromatography
