If you have not done so already, make sure you take the Test on the home page. It is not enough to say that "all have fallen short", it's realizing what has been keeping us there. It is stepping out of the culture mis-labeled Christianity, and truly evaluating who we follow (Lamentations 3:40).
First, let's examine what a UnCULTured Christian is NOT:
An UnCULTured Christian is aware that the enemy can take on many forms that may seem good:
An UnCULTured Christian is usually unknown and unseen, not unlike the Melchizedek (Hebrews 7) who encouraged the disparaged (and lonesome) Abraham. One who seeks first the Kingdom of Heaven, and thus, knows that the rules of that Kingdom are unlike any governing power that rules on this earth (Ephesians 6:12).
At times, the UnCULTured Christian will shake the bureaucracy and capitalism that infects the church (John 2:15) and challenge the social norms. And although our preaching will rarely be from the pulpit (Matthew 6), our preaching will be found blameless (1 John 4:1). That is because we don't take our God in vain, and God confirms it (Mark 16:20)!
It would be easy to walk and quack like a duck in the way of others around us. However, for those who are called to rebel against the ways of the world, we cannot sit still in the pews. We can't take another platitude. We can't sit with you people anymore (Psalms 1:1)!
We are known by our selfless love and compassion, because a Greater Wisdom has been instilled in us. Yet do not confuse forgiveness for weakness - we are very aware and prepared for the world we sojourn in:
This question can be extended to many of the Christians who have been persecuted for their beliefs throughout history and even in the world today. Often we are told it is a mystery by association to Christ (Matthew 13:13), yet most of the damage is done where Christ is not only expected but said to be worshiped!
Most likely, the only reason you are reading this is because you are searching. You are searching for answers to why the Church looks nothing like Christ. You are searching because the platitudes and disconnected statements bring you to more desperation in your situation. You may even be searching to find some way to hate me too!
The truth is, Jesus was killed because He brought a ruling on tyrannical religion, militaristic government, and conservative traditionalists who worshiped sin more than God (John 8:44). In 2000 years, not much has changed.
