NSF REU - APPLICATION

Applicant Requirements

(must meet all below criteria)

❑ U.S. citizen, U.S. national, or U.S. Permanent Resident

❑ Currently enrolled at an accredited U.S. Post Secondary institution or in an Undergraduate degree program leading to an associate or a baccalaureate degree

❑ Currently enrolled with Good Academic standing in a degree program

❑ Completed 24 credit hours at time of application to URISE program

❑ Full-time commit to the 10-week program (You are not permitted to work or take classes during the program).

Additional considerations:

❑ Minimum GPA of 3.0/4.0

❑ Students from:

✓ A College or University with limited research facilities

✓ Tribal College or University

✓ Community College

✓ A underrepresented group

❑ Two Letters of Reference. At least one from a STEM professor.

Important Dates

❑ Applications Open: Dec. 1, 2021 ❑ Application Deadline: Feb. 28, 2022

❑ Decision Queries: Mar. 1 ~ Mar. 20, 2022 ❑ U-RISE Program: June 1 – Aug. 9, 2022

Compensation

❑ $5,000 stipend for a period of 10 weeks (paid by checks in 3 installments - beginning, middle & end).

❑ Paid registration, travel, hotel, and per-diem to attend a conference to disseminate the REU research findings.

❑ Free accommodation during the 10-week training program.

❑ Round-trip travel support.
