ABOUT US
Welcome Hawks!! We are so happy you are interested in learning how to throw flags, performing, meeting new people, or even getting involved in competition. Color Guard Club is open to all university of Iowa students of ALL skill levels. No experience needed! We welcome new members year round. We started this club in 2019 and we are very proud that we now are recognized as a sports club.
What is color guard? In color guard, a member utilizes dance and tools such as the flag, rifle, and saber to perform. You learn different movements and tosses with these tools to create routines. It is a great way to stay active and make new friends.
PRACTICE
In this beginning section of the semester, we usually have optional practices that you need to go to either Tuesday 7-9 p.m. or Wednesday 7-9 p.m. at the Field House, but these days and times are subject to change depending on what works best for everyone. Everyone should make it to our Sunday from 5-8 p.m. in the main basketball courts on the main deck. If you cannot make it, there is a link to our absence form in our updates tab. We also have group conditioning for about the last hour of our Sunday practices. Auditions will be coming up in the next couple of months where we will have everyone do a little portion of the show.
Something we are still working on is for those who do not wish to audition or who do not make it into our competition guard, we will try to have a separate practice for just the club where we will perform at events, mainly with the fight song and possibly some other work!

COST
Our cost this year is $75 per semester. This year, we have decided to ask for both dues at the beginning of the season instead of splitting it up in the past. If this isn't something you can do, please contact us with any concerns and we will gladly try our best to work around it! Unfortunately, we are also only allowed to accept the fees in cash or check this year. This is just to be in color guard, if you want to purchase your own practice flag, rifle, or saber, you will have to purchase that on your own.
