Neighborhoods

Neighborhood advice

  • Allston, Brighton, and Brookline are typically where more graduate students live, regardless of which campus they work at.
    • Allston is cheapest, but loud (bar culture)
    • Brighton is closest
    • Brookline is more expensive but nicest
  • The Cambridgeport neighborhood in Cambridge is diverse and close to campus (5-20 minute walk depending on the area, or 47 bus access). It can be expensive, so prepare to live with roommates!
  • Black neighborhoods: Roxbury and Dorchester, closer to MED campus
  • Latinx neighborhoods: East Boston, ??
  • Many people of color tend to avoid certain neighborhoods. Although stereotyping is bad and all neighborhoods have their merits, our safety is also important. That being said, many POC tend to avoid Charlestown and Southie.
