Insurance:
BU PhD students have their medical insurance fees covered if they opt for the BU insurance plan, Aetna Basic. If you have a dependent or a complicated situation, consider paying extra for the Aetna PLUS plan. Info about each plan found here:

In our experience, Aetna covers most costs adequately. To enroll, go to www.bu.edu/studentlink/
Healthcare
- BU Student Health Services (SHS) - your first stop for all non-dental health issues
- BU Medical Center (BUMC) - great for hospital needs or specialists beyond what SHS can provide.
- For birth control, at BUMC, ask for Randi Petricone and mention you're a BU student.
- STI screenings - some may not be covered at SHS. In that case, go to Fenway Health (LGBT friendly)
Mental Health Resources
- BU Student Health Services (SHS) - your first stop for all non-dental health issues
- I've heard Harvard Vanguard has good therapists and psychiatrists https://www.atriushealth.org/specialties-and-services/behavioral-health
Dental:

The Aetna Dental plan breaks down like this:
If you are still under alternate insurance (e.g., on your parent's) and have good coverage, take advantage and get all your dental work done before you get kicked off! Go to Dr. May at Dental Partners of Brookline (very friendly, professional, but *expensive*)
