Drones can be used to collect data from ground sensors and deliver the collected data to ground base stations. Drones equipped with sensors can also be used as an aerial sensor network for environmental monitoring and disaster management . Numerous datasets originating from drones remote sensing have been acquired to support the research teams, serving a broad range of applications: crop monitoring, yield estimates, drought monitoring, water quality monitoring, tree species, disease detection, etc. In this section, we present drones remote sensing systems, challenges during aerial sensing using drones, research trends and future insights.
