Learn basic functions of SCRATCH including creation of sprites, customizing costumes, and adding musical loops. Use these lessons to create your very own character with custom outfits and a catch phrase!
Next week we will be beginning to create our very own zombie apocalypse video game through SCRATCH. Use the lessons from this week and your own creativity to create the backstory of our apocalypse story. Who are our survivor(s)? What type of zombies are attacking? Use SCRATCH and customize sprites to create a scene and our characters.
Join us as we tune in to YouTuber WarFame's SCRATCH tutorials. We will be focusing on his Zombie Apocalypse Survival game over the next several weeks. Use these guides to create your very own zombie apocalypse survivor, enemy zombies, and weapons.
Now that we've come up with a backstory for our zombie apocalypse survivor, let's begin to customize what our characters look like. Use SCRATCH sprites to create costumes for our survivor, our enemy zombies, and the multiple weapons available to our survivor. What about the clothing and weapons of our survivor guarantees their safety? How can we convey these messages using the SCRATCH sprites costume editor?
The creation of our very own version of YouTuber WarFame’s SCRATCH Zombie Apocalypse Survival game continues. Join us this week in creating a sort of accumulated currency tracker to reward our survivors for their efforts. Additionally, we will be working on a customizable in-game shop that provides our survivor with weapon upgrades available for purchase.
Let’s continue working on our backstory for our survivor. If our coding and programming skills aren’t failing us, our survivor is now able to navigate throughout an apocalyptic world full of treacherous zombies. Use your imagination in creating a twist that allows for our survivor to come across a shop or general store of some sort. This will explain how our survivor can collect currency from eliminating zombies and exchange said currency for weapons and upgrades.
Any true gamer knows sometimes games have bugs that reduce their quality. Well this week we are fixing all bugs that have been noticed in order for our game to run as smoothly as possible. Join us this week in fixing all game bugs as well as inputting a game start and game over drop down menu for that authentic video game feel. Speaking of video game authenticity, what’s a great video game without a difficult Boss to defeat?
Now that our survivor has proved worthy of obtaining accessible weapon upgrades, the enemy zombies stand zero chance. However, we know that life in an apocalyptic world is not that easy. Let’s create a more difficult, much stronger enemy zombie for our survivor to defeat. What does it look like? How much stronger is it compared to regular zombies? Figure out how to incorporate this boss zombie into our story so that our video game makes sense.
Our Zombie Apocalypse Survival game is just about complete. All that is left is creating a menu and game over screen for that authentic video game touch. Join us this week in completing all editing and customization of our very own version of YouTuber WarFame's Zombie Shootout.
With a completed version of your very own SCRATCH zombie survival game, get ready to submit and share your backstory and scratch files with me and the rest of your peers. Stay tuned as all submissions, including my own, will be showcased on our Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math page of this website!
