Internal Competitions

The club runs a number of internal competitions, Standard Play, Rapid Play, Blitz, a Knockout Competition, a Handicap Competition and a Ladder or Grand Prix for friendly games of all sorts.  Plus an Easter Egg Blitz Competition and at Christmas some sort of blitz...it has been Chess 960 recently.

Occasional updates can be found here, very occasional.  We didn't finish all of the competitions for 19-20 and 20-21 didn't even start but those for which enough matches had been played by the time of the first UK lockdown will be awarded as appropriate.  It looks like Brian Stockham got most of them.

The New Year Party 960 in 2024 was won with a perfect score by Arran, 7 out of 7, Oliver and Mark came 2nd and 3rd with 5/7.

The 2024 Halloween 960 was also won by Arran, again with a perfect 6/6.

UCKFIELD CHESS CLUB – KNOCKOUT TOURNAMENT 2024-25

RULES:- 60 minutes each; No two-minute rule; Illegal move last 5 mins adds 2 mins to opponent; Three illegal moves last 5 mins = loss of game.

TIMESCALES:- 1 st round – end of January; Quarter-finals – by end April; Semi-finals – by end May; Final by end June.

If not played, progress will be awarded to the highest attender at club sessions !
