VISA APPLICATION

US Passport Holder: You do not need a visa if you are studying for a semester in Ireland; however, you will need a valid U.S. passport.

If you do not hold a US passport, visit here to check to see if you need a visa. If you need a visa, it will also give you instructions on how to complete the form and the needed supporting documentation. You will need a letter of acceptance from UCD.

Once in Dublin, all non EU/ EEA citizens will need to register with the Garda National Immigration Bureau (GNIB) and pay any associated fees (by debit/credit card only). UCD has created a very helpful guide on the process of checking in the GNIB here.

It is the student’s responsibility to check for updated visa procedures and required documentation. If you have any questions, your best resource will be your host university or the consulate.

NOTE: Visa application rules change frequently and the university cannot control visa acceptance. You are responsible for applying for and providing the proper documentation to the consulate or embassy.
