The Garden City site at 360 Saratoga Ave. in San Jose was acquired by Prometheus. They are proposing to replace the 179,000 sq ft of retail space with:
- 458,000 sf of commercial office,
- up to 15,043 sf of retail,
- up to 871 residential units.
Unfortunately this will result in significant loss in retail space serving the community. The impact of new office space and residential development on traffic at 280/Saratoga must be taken into account.
The developer is seeking "Signature" status, thus allowing the project to bypass certain planning requirements, such as height limits.
