The Community Building Committee is dedicated to making the College of Law feel like home. It organizes initiatives that strengthen connections among students across all class years, from mentorship pairings and study breaks to wellness programming during exam season. The committee also works to ensure every student — including transfer, dual-degree, and non-traditional students — feels welcomed and included in the law school community.
The Finance & Membership Committee manages the SBA's budget and ensures student funds are spent responsibly and transparently. It reviews funding requests from student organizations, tracks expenditures throughout the year, and helps allocate resources where they'll have the greatest impact. The committee also oversees SBA membership, keeping records current and finding ways to grow engagement across the student body.
The Marketing & Outreach Committee is the voice of the SBA. It manages the SBA's social media presence, designs promotional materials, and keeps students informed about upcoming events, deadlines, and opportunities. The committee also builds the SBA's presence beyond the law school, coordinating outreach to the broader university, admitted students, and the Tucson legal community.
The Events Committee plans and executes the SBA's signature programming throughout the year. From orientation-week socials and tailgates to the Barrister's Ball, the committee handles everything from venue booking and vendor coordination to day-of logistics. Its goal is simple: give law students well-earned opportunities to step away from their casebooks and celebrate together.
The ABA Committee serves as the SBA's liaison to the American Bar Association's Law Student Division. It keeps students informed about ABA membership benefits, scholarship and writing competitions, and national programming, and represents our student body's interests within the Division. The committee also helps students take advantage of ABA resources for professional development and networking as they prepare to enter the profession.
The Constitutional Committee safeguards the SBA's governing documents. It reviews the SBA Constitution and bylaws, proposes amendments as the organization evolves, and advises the board on procedural, election, and interpretive questions. When disputes arise, the committee provides a fair and consistent framework for resolving them, ensuring the SBA operates transparently and accountably.
