Graduated High School: In 2019, I graduated with my diploma from A.J. Dimond High School. In the following days, I applied to the University of Alaska Anchorage and was admitted as a Pre-Nursing major.
Finished Semester Successfully: I finished with a 4.0 GPA in my first Fall Semester while working at UPS. It was difficult adjusting from being a high school student to a college student with a part-time job.
Covid-19 Pandemic: In the middle of the Spring Semester, the University of Alaska Anchorage changed many courses to alternate delivery methods (i.e. online) and enacted other precautionary measures due to Covid-19.
Questioning Future in Nursing: During lockdowns, I began to question my future in nursing, both academically and professionally. I made the huge and preemptive decision to change my major from Pre-Nursing to Political Science.
Political Science Major: For the Spring Semester of 2021, I decided to take PS A102, an intro course in political science, with Professor Kimberly Pace. After completing the course and having many office hours with Professor Pace, I began to discover my passion for government and politics.
Worked for Camp Fire Alaska and its Rural Program.
Became an intern for the Anchorage Assembly.
Joined the National Society of Leadership and Success.
Earned the NSLS Online Scholarship.
PS 492 Senior Seminar: Nine political science courses later (or 1.5 years), I began my Senior Seminar in Political Science. This was my last major requirement before officially applying for graduation.
Became a Secretariat for the Model United Nations of Alaska Program.
Joined the UAA Honors College and its Leadership Track.
Juneau Legislative Internship: Ever since the Spring Semester in 2021, it has been my biggest goal to be accepted into an exclusive legislative internship program in Juneau. I was formally notified of my acceptance in November 2022 and began to make preparations for the trip to the State Capitol. From January 2023 to May 2023, I was a legislative intern for State Senator Jesse Kiehl and worked full-time in the Alaska State Legislature.
Earned the UA Rex, Lyle, and Dorthe Scholarship.
Joined Pi Sigma Alpha
Model United Nations: I officially became the Secretary-General for the Model United Nations of Alaska Program in May 2023. I worked together with Professor Pace, the President of General Assembly, and the Secretariat in preparation for the Fall and Spring Conferences. After many months of hard work and dedication, both conferences ended successfully.
Became an Anchorage Assembly Aide for Assembly Member Anna Brawley.
Became an intern for the Alaska Department of Environmental Conservation and its Spill Prevention and Response Division.
Earned a UAA CESA Scholarship.
Joined Phi Theta Kappa.
Spring Graduation(s): As of May 2024, I will soon graduate from both the Honors College and the University of Alaska Anchorage. It has been a very eventful five years since my high school graduation in 2019.
Earned UAA Leadership Honors.
Earned a UAA Honors College Scholarship.
