Biography

I am a Filipino-American who was born and raised in Anchorage, Alaska. It was both my maternal and fraternal grandparents who originally immigrated from the Philippines to the United States for a better future for my parents. As a kid, I went down the Dimond pipeline (Bayshore Elementary, Mears Middle School, and Dimond High School) just like many of my family.

Growing up in Alaska, I got to experience the many things the state has to offer. The natural scenery, the wildlife, the first snowfall, and the midnight sun. Admittedly, I didn't fully comprehend or even enjoy all these things growing up. But as I have gotten older, I now understand and appreciate Alaska's beauty. Case in point, my family's annual trip to Kenai for the dipnetting season. As a kid, I preferred to stay at our house to play video games all summer long. Now as an adult, I look forward to wading into the waters and experiencing that Zen-like state of waiting for salmon to swim into my net.

Career Goals and Ambitions

I have aspirations to work in the Public Sector because of my family. My father and paternal grandparents all worked at the United States Postal Service. My mother and maternal grandmother were orthopedic nurses. I grew up in a family where everyone's deeds and actions was motivated by a purpose, serving the public's general interests.

Fundamentally, I want to make a positive and lasting impact. Whether it be implementing sound policy, regulating environmental hazards, or protecting nature through conservation. At this point in time, I am not certain on where exactly in the Public Sector I want to dedicate my time and effort towards. But as I enter a new chapter of my life, I will continue searching for a role that fully aligns with my core ideals and beliefs.
