We have Introduced SPOND for ride planning and indicating you are joining.
If you are a member looking for a ride please refer to SPOND either on the App on your phone or on the computer browser at www.spond.com (and select MySpond)
Details are given below on how to join CFF and How to Join a Ride
To Join the Cycling for Fun please follow these steps.
You must be a member of the Petersfield U3A please refer to our website if you wish to join.
Review the information given in all sections of this Guide and be happy with the organisation and your responsibilities.
Complete the Risk assessment form which will provide us with your contact information and Emergency contacts.
The coordinator will process your application:
Add you to a Googlegroup where anyone in the group can send email to all members it will also give you access to the groups documents on this website.
Add you to SPOND where all Ride or other Events will be listed, Ride reports will be Posted and Polls may be taken on subjects of interest.
You will receive an Email to the address on your application form (or in the SPOND App if you are already using it) inviting you to join a SPOND PBB Group, you must Accept this invite.
Once accepted you can either
Continue to receive Email messages from SPOND you can always log in to My-Spond on at www.spond.com/welcome on a computer.
Load the SPOND App from Google Playstore or iStore where all interactions will then take place (no Emails).
Note: You may also at this stage receive invitations to any future rides, you can accept or decline these once you have accepted to join the group.

Notes on SPOND App:
We have found that some people do not receive notifications on their iPhones, please review how to check your setting with these two short videos. Enabling iPhone Spond Notifications and Spond push notification settings
Its is Your responsibility to ensure that your health, stamina and equipment are suitable for the ride.
To help you choose the most suitable ride for you, all rides will be posted on SPOND with sufficient information to help you make the right choice. If you feel there is something missing, please add a comment or message the leader for clarification.
Click Attending or Not Attending to indicate (please do not ignore), you can change our response at any time. If the ride is showing as Full you can join a Waiting list.
The ride text on SPOND will normally include:
Route Information
The start point and any meeting instructions
A Route description
This may optionally have images of the route, the elevation profile and or a GPX file for use with mapping software.
Terrain
Rides may be routed on Road, Tracks or 'off road', guidance will be given on expected surfaces, the suitability of your bike is your decision.
Distance in miles
A description of any particularly steep or long hills
A Ride Grade or Rating for difficulty on scale 1 to 5 (5 being extreme)
1 - flat, no hills, less than 20 miles
2 - Limited Hills or Distance ~15m
3 - 2 hills and/or approx 20 miles
4 - Steep hills and/or over 20 miles
5 - Extreme hills, 30+ miles
Environment:
Weather cannot be accurately predicted but guidance may be provided on plans if forecasts are not good on the day.
If the plan is to ride at night or poor light conditions are expected the need for lights will be stated.
Safety:
Any other aspects of the plan the leader feels may be significant in ensuring a safe ride will be stated if possible on SPOND
However, these may not be known until the start or during the ride. The Leader will brief the group ahead of the ride starting and you should be prepared to withdraw or curtail the ride if you are unsure about your fitness or safety at any time.
If the ride was listed on SPOND as full but you joined the Waiting List please check as the ride date approaches if a space has come free for you, you will need to accept this.
Please be there on time for a prompt start.
If you cannot make the ride at last minute please contact the Ride leader (Everyone's contact details are on Spond)
