I planned to use my position within the Sigma Chi Fraternity as Proconsul, to learn more effective leadership and management techniques, which helped me establish effective managerial techniques within the aviation industry. The leadership track was the best choice to support my project for the following reasons I was elected by my peers to hold the Proconsul position within the Sigma Chi Fraternity for the school year of 2018-2019. Being in a leadership position I believed it was imperative to seek the proper guidance in order to help steer the Fraternity in a positive direction in both campus and community relations. This project set me apart from others in my major because a large majority of the students in my major understand the management factors that can either cause a business to succeed or fail especially in the hazardous aviation industry. They do not however, actively pursue positions or activities outside of Business Management classes to give them the hands on experience necessary to hit the ground running when they start their career.
I ran for this position because this organization has given me a lot and I want to see it grow and those within to be successful. I believe I was elected to this position by my peers because they saw my potential to make this position influential and to better our chapter. I am in contact quite often with last years Proconsul as well as the Proconsul advisor dedicated to our chapter. In the past I have held the position of Risk Manager where I was in charge of Risk Mitigation techniques as well as educating brothers on the dangers of excessive alcohol consumption.
