Warm-ups
During my time in my elementary school placement, I was given the opportunity to create and implement various warm-ups and ways to get students moving and active. The first warm-up was created to be interactive and engaging for students as well as giving students some control over what they would be doing with the dice. The second warm-up is one I created for the 100 days of school that students went through. This is one that students enjoyed and went through several times in my placement. These are just a few examples of warm-ups I developed over my time at Jackson Elementary School.
Coaching/Leadership
Freshmen Boy's Assistant Coach-Timothy Christian High School
For the past two years I have had the opportunity to assist in coaching freshmen boys' basketball at Timothy Christian High School. I have continued to learn the importance of not only individual skill development but also the character development of each individual as they go throughout the program. I was able to gain knowledge and experience on planning and preparation as well as in-game strategy and adjusting. Overall, this experience was a great opportunity to learn and connect with individuals and I am grateful for the experiences I gained.
7th Grade Boys Basketball Coach-Southwest Chicago Christian School in Oak Lawn
My first coaching experience came during my time at Southwest Chicago Christian School in Oak Lawn. I coached a total of 3 seasons for their 7th grade boys' basketball teams. During my time here I was given the opportunity to learn from various coaches who helped guide me not only in basketball knowledge but also in growing as a leader. Through this experience I learned how to be a leader vocally as well as by example. I implemented a program goal each year of "building young men of integrity" and set expectations for my teams each year on how to accomplish this. I am thankful for this experience because I came out of it a stronger and more confident leader.
Renew Team Sports Class Instructor-Timothy Christian High School
During my one year at Timothy Christian High School, I was able to build and implement my very own "Team Sports Class". This was a two week course that met for 3 hours a day. This course consisted of various basic team sports such as basketball, soccer, and volleyball as well as more unique team sports including field games and ultimate frisbee. This class helped grow my knowledge in building units and allowed me to be creative and gain expereince in implementing material. The video above is our "field game day" which consisted of various field games that students could play and try out for the first time in some cases.
