Historian

Hi everyone! I’m Claudia Raquel Ramirez, and I’m honored to serve as GLISA’s first Historian. My passion for literacy, advocacy, and representation will guide my work as an officer and my future career as a librarian. Growing up along the border of Mexico shaped my views on culture and identity, perspectives I’m excited to bring to my roles. After three years in sales, I’m excited to pivot into librarianship, especially archiving, cataloging, metadata, and/or digital data management. I am a whiz when it comes to organizing shared files, creating standardized operating procedures, and any detail-oriented, meticulous work. Currently, I’m in my final year of the MLIS program, with graduation set for Spring 2027!

At home, I’m surrounded by love: my husband (together for 10 years, married for 2) and our toothy 5-year-old pup Iggy. I cherish time spent with my 12-year-old sister, rainy evenings, and cheese. Even though I spend a majority of time in my cozy home, I also enjoy thrills like horror movies & video games, amusement parks, and singing at the top of my lungs at stoplights. I love embroidery, puzzles, and any excuse to dress up, like concerts, conventions, and Halloween. My top artists are Twenty One Pilots, Mother Mother, Oliver Tree, Chappell Roan, System of a Down, CocoRosie, and others that come and go from my rotation. Some books I wish I had written are: The Hunger Games, The Martian, The Institute, and Monster.
