Volunteer

Volunteer Overview:

• Meets cannot run without our amazing volunteers!

• Signups will be done through SwimTopia

• There are multiple opportunities for you to volunteer

• Certification may be required for certain roles

  • These roles have an asterisk in front of them

Volunteer Role Descriptions:

Announcer: The announcer must arrive early to set up the broadcast system, become familiar with the schedule and announce activities before the actual start of the meet.

Athlete Check-In: Check Twisters365 swimmers in and mark them for their events. Report any swimmers that do not check in to the meet director (Nixon Wilkinson).

Head Starter: Starts each heat with the "take your mark" command and watches for false starts.

Head Timer: The Head Timer shall run two watches for back-up, in case of malfunctioning watches, or in the event a timer does not start the watch properly.

Heat Ribbons: Award the heat winners and hand out ribbons at the end of each race.

Photographer: Takes pictures of the Twisters throughout meets and events for memories and posting.

Ready Bench: Read bench volunteers ensure that all swimmers are in the correct heat and lane according to the heat sheet. 

*Relay Judge: Watch to see if a swimmers feet leave the block/wall, before the swimmer currently in the water touches the wall.

Scribe: Completes DQ slip for the stroke and turn officials when they raise their hand, and turns them into the meet operations table.

*Stroke & Turn Official: Stroke and turn officials will undergo training and during meets, watch for illegal strokes and turns.

Timer: Timers will capture a swimmers time using the dolphins and manual stopwatches.
