This Privacy Policy explains how the Twinread app for iPhone and iPad ("Twinread", "the app", "we") handles your information. In short: we do not collect personal data, we have no user accounts, we show no ads and we do not track you. Your books, translations and vocabulary stay on your device or in your own iCloud account.
The books you import (EPUB, PDF, text, articles shared from Safari), their translations, your saved words, review history, reading progress, reading stats, goals and settings are stored on your device. We never receive them.
Translation: Twinread uses Apple's on-device Translation framework. Your text is translated on your device and is not sent to our servers or to any third-party translation service. Language packs are downloaded from Apple.
Dictionary and read aloud: definitions come from the dictionary built into iOS and pronunciation uses the speech voices of iOS, both on your device.
Reminders: reading and review reminders are local notifications scheduled on your device. We do not use push notification servers.
Widgets and Shortcuts: they read your progress from your device only.
If you turn on iCloud sync (Twinread Pro), your library, progress and vocabulary are stored in the private database of your own iCloud account, managed by Apple. We cannot access this data. Apple's handling of iCloud data is described in Apple's Privacy Policy. You can turn sync off at any time in Twinread's Settings or in iOS Settings.
Purchases. Subscriptions are processed by Apple. To check whether your subscription is active, the app uses Apple's StoreKit and RevenueCat, a subscription management service. RevenueCat receives your purchase history (product, date, renewal and trial status) together with a random, anonymous app user ID created by the app. It does not receive your name, email address or Apple Account details. This data is used only to provide and restore your subscription and is not used for advertising or tracking. See RevenueCat's Privacy Policy at revenuecat.com/privacy.
Refund requests. When you ask Apple for a refund of a subscription, information about how you used your subscription (for example whether you used the premium content and for how long) may be shared with Apple so that Apple can process your request. By using the app, you agree to this sharing.
Usage analytics. The current version of Twinread contains no analytics, advertising or crash reporting SDK. If we add anonymous usage statistics in a future version, we will update this policy and the App Store privacy details first.
When you browse or download free classics, the app sends your search and the chosen language to Gutendex (gutendex.com) and downloads the book from Project Gutenberg (gutenberg.org). When you share a web page from Safari, the app downloads that page directly from its website. Like any website, these services can see your IP address. They receive no other information from Twinread.
We do not sell or rent your data and we do not share it with advertisers or data brokers. Data is only processed by the service providers named above (Apple and RevenueCat) to make the app work.
Twinread does not track you across apps or websites owned by other companies, does not use the advertising identifier (IDFA) and does not show ads.
Data on your device stays there until you delete it in the app or delete the app. iCloud data stays in your iCloud account until you delete it. RevenueCat keeps purchase records as long as needed to provide your subscription and meet legal obligations. If you email us, we keep your message only as long as needed to help you, and at most 24 months.
Depending on where you live, you have the right to access, correct, delete or receive a copy of your personal data, to object to or restrict its processing, and to withdraw consent. California residents have the right to know, delete and correct personal information and to opt out of its sale or sharing; we do not sell or share personal information. Because we do not hold personal data about you, most requests are handled directly on your device (delete the app or its content). For anything else, email us at hammouti.yassine89@gmail.com ; we answer within 30 days. You may also contact your local data protection authority. The legal basis for processing in the EU is the performance of our contract with you (providing the app and your subscription).
Twinread is not directed to children under 13 (or the minimum age in your country) and we do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe a child has sent us personal data, contact us and we will delete it.
Your content stays on your device, protected by iOS, or in your iCloud account, protected by Apple. Connections to the services above use HTTPS.
We will post any change on this page and update the date above. If a change affects what data we collect, we will update this policy before the new version of the app is released.
