How can I make a change?
1. Peripheral Vision - In order to continue making a positive difference in the world, you need to always be looking for places that could benefit from alternate solutions, don't only focus on one topic.
2. Listen to the Right People - Listen to those who've had different experiences than yourself so you can learn how you can make a difference that will really inflict change.
3. Try Living for a Week on $2 a day - Never discount the value in putting yourself in someone else's shoes. This way, you can access one of the most valuable emotions, empathy. It is empathy that can truly motivate someone to make a change.
Clean Water and SanitationÂ
We feel a certain connection to this issue mainly because we have the luxury of having access to clean and drinkable water at all times. The thought that 3 in 10 people lack access to safely managed drinking water services makes us eager to see a difference in the availability and cleanliness of this necessary nutrient.
My GLOCAL Hero
Cindy Luppi, pictured on far the right, is currently the New England director for Clean Water Action and has worked there since 1994. She has helped to coordinate a number of coalitions and community-based efforts to reduce pollution and promote a cleaner, more sustainable economy. She coordinated the Northeast Clean Power Campaign which successfully pressed for the clean-up of the region's biggest industrial polluters which include oil and coal plants. She also attends and coordinates the dozens of events held by the CWA that advocate for not only clean water, but clean energy, reduced air pollution, and an end to climate change. Cindy is also a board member in the Mass Climate Action Network, who are more focused on raising awareness about the dangers of climate change and dirty energy.
