Triangulation

The interpretation of traffic data will benefit from all kinds of additional information you may have about the library from other sources. Knowing the opening hours is of course a must. Annual data on visits and loans from the physical library unit being observed are useful.

Data from the actual observation days are particularly valuable, for instance:

  • number of visitors - allows calculation of average time spent at the library
  • number of loans shows the relationship between visits and lending
  • number of computer sessions booked
  • number of reference questions posed (in person) or answered
  • can loans can be subdivided into demographic groups (sex, age) ?
