Why the need for a TSIA2 Math Toolkit?
Too many students in Dallas County are not testing college-ready. Even if they meet TSI requirements, many don’t qualify through assessments like the ACT, SAT, or TSIA2, especially in math.
A 12% gap in TSI readiness between English and Math forces more students into developmental courses, creating unnecessary hurdles before they can start earning college credit.
These extra courses cost students time and money, making college more expensive and increasing the risk of delayed graduation.
When students get stuck in developmental coursework, they’re far more likely to drop out before earning a degree, shutting the door on future opportunities.
House Bill 3 Outcomes Bonus Funding
Aside from improving CCMR Accountability performance, school and district ratings, and equitable access to postsecondary institutions, students who meet qualifying scores on the ACT, SAT, and/or TSIA2 and enroll in a postsecondary institution or obtain an industry-based certification, help provide additional funding to the district via Texas House Bill 3 Outcomes Bonus Funding. These funds are designated to support district CCMR initiatives.
Note that a College Prep course (e.g., Texas College Bridge) does not qualify for receiving HB3 OBF funding.
The TSIA2 Math Toolkit, the culmination of a collaborative effort between The Commit Partnership and participating Dallas County School District leaders, is designed to support the implementation of strategic actions to improve readiness and outcomes in TSIA2 Math.
