I filmed this performance of "Perfect" from Jagged Little Pill for my school's annual Miscast event. Usually, the event happens in person, but due to COVID-19, the event had to be virtual for 2021. Funnily enough, the event ended up not even happening at all, so this performance has turned into just some extra practice for me. Also, I was a little sick when I filmed this song and my voice sounded a little lower than normal. This actually ended up benefitting me at some points because the song is sung by a male character in Jagged Little Pill and there are some lower notes in the song that I could hit easier with my sick voice. Overall, I think this performance turned out pretty good. It is more laid back and serious than the songs I usually choose to sing, so it was nice to switch things up for a change. For being sick and having to film in a closet in my house, I think I did a great job and I wish an audience had been able to see it.
I performed this audition cut of "Stupid With Love" from Mean Girls for Playbill's Search for a Star contest in 2020. I did not make it past the first round, but that is totally fine. There were a lot of submissions from people of all ages and experience levels and I was only sixteen years old when I filmed this. I still have a lot of room for improvement and a lot of experience yet to be had, and I know I have the talent and determination to get myself where I dream to be. I am still proud of this performance, regardless of how it did not get me to the next round of the contest. I think I had good energy, my voice sounds great, and even though there are things I would change about it now, I still think it is very enjoyable to watch. Cady Heron is one of my dream roles and this song is one of my favorite Broadway songs to sing, so I had a lot of fun filming this audition.
I sent in this performance of "You Love Who You Love" from Bonnie & Clyde for an audition for one of Broadway Workshop's 2021 summer shows. I did not get into the show, but received a personal message from the director saying how well I did in my audition and that he was sorry I was not cast. The show ended up not happening anyways because of the pandemic, so I did not miss out! This song was a bit of a challenge for me because I had to belt a lot of notes around my break. The song is also technically meant to be a duet, but I was able to easily sing it as a solo, there are just no harmonies like the recording has, obviously. I chose to do this song because I was really enjoying it and connecting with it at the time, so it felt fitting to perform it for my audition. Looking back on this audition now, in 2022, I think I did a great job, but I could definitely belt it better with my voice now and I would make some different acting choices. Overall, though, I think this was a solid audition for me at the time.
