Through our research and discussion, we want to make clear that the gender ideology in the United States are these “shared ideas/rules about gender & how men & women are, and should be”. That being said, we don't want to persuade, but inform/enlighten you that gender ideologies are created and supported to control our self perception in order to control/support how society is shaped. How people “do gender” is based on the “gender rules” and how society keeps people within these rules is “gender policing”.
Gender is something that has no boundaries nor rules, but is something that has been used to “police” people into a certain way in order to have control over them throughout our time.
Non binary people go against the gender rules therefore are unable to be policed, which is why society does not accept them. Non binary people are persons that do not fall into traditional gender roles. A non-binary individual is neither man nor woman. However they can classify with certain characteristics of either sexual orientation or have a sense of self that is altogether outside the binary. They can dress however they want and be whoever they want to be.
Once one is able to fully understand how gender has continued to be shaped in our world, they'll be able to break that control that these ideologies and inequalities have on us from before birth, and live free of boundaries in order to fully and truthfully express oneself in and out.
