The Annual NSS Camp 2021-2022 was held at Gram Dakshinamurti Lokshala, Manar, Talaja, Bhavnagar, from January 2nd to January 8th, 2022, under the theme Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav – Role of Rural Life. This week-long camp provided participants with a valuable opportunity to engage in community service, teamwork, and hands-on learning while gaining deeper insights into rural life and its significance.
One of the primary activities of the camp was a village cleanliness drive, where students actively contributed to improving hygiene and sanitation in the area. Participants took part in cleaning public spaces, spreading awareness about hygiene practices, and assisting villagers in maintaining a cleaner environment. Through these activities, students developed a strong sense of social responsibility and civic duty.
A major highlight of the camp was the educational visit to Alang Shipyard, one of the world's largest ship recycling yards. This visit provided participants with a unique perspective on the maritime industry, sustainable recycling practices, and the economic impact of shipbreaking on local communities.
Throughout the camp, students worked in teams, handling different responsibilities that required cooperation, leadership, and problem-solving skills. Various interactive sessions, discussions, and group activities helped foster a spirit of teamwork and mutual learning.
The camp served as a transformative experience, allowing participants to immerse themselves in rural life, contribute meaningfully to the community, and develop essential life skills. By engaging in both service-oriented and educational activities, students not only strengthened their connection to society but also gained a profound appreciation for the resilience, simplicity, and significance of rural living.
